Open House 2009
Our recent Open House on December 16, 2009 was a success.
First, we wish to thank all those who braved the cold weather and shared their time with us.

It's because of your consideration that we now have a mortgage free medical center.

Message from the Chairperson
This is a very busy time for the Athens District Health Service Centre Board of Directors. The directors are very committed to the new Family Health Team and the fundraising efforts to make this building expansion project a reality.
Fundraising is not an easy task and this groups’ work habits seem so effortless, dedicating many long hours making phone calls, sending emails, writing letters and applications and attending meetings to move toward the $400,000 fundraising goal.
The Family Health Team and its’ additional staffing compliment will be a welcome and much needed addition to this community and to the other tenants of the building, the Chiropractic and Massage Therapy Services.
I want to say thank you to the present and past board members who’s efforts, contributions and commitment have made the health centre what it is today. This is a very exciting and rewarding experience working with the board, current professional staff and the community to secure a Health and Wellness future in the Athens and surrounding communities.
Athens Chamber of Commerce Award
Attached is a picture of the board members holding the plaque they received in May 2008 when the Athens District Health Service Centre was chosen "2008 Organization of the Year" by the Athens Chamber of Commerce.

Mission Statement
The Athens District Health Service Centre Board is committed in working alongside the Athens' community to advance health and well-being by attracting and retaining competent and professional medical personnel and health personnel.
Family Health Team
Our Family Health Team is a group of health care professionals.
They include physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, social workers and dieticians who work together to provide primary care for our patients.
They provide a wide range of services including health promotion, treatment services, chronic disease management and prevention, rehabilitation and palliative care.
Health care professionals like to work as part of a Family Health Team because it is a satisfying way to provide patient care. They are able to make the best use of their skills in being part of an interprofessional team where they can share their knowledge and learn from one another.
Members of Family Health Teams are able to focus more on helping people stay healthy, rather than just treating illnesses; and they like the fact that their patients are partners in their own health and care.
